Whoever said that you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, never worked with Akin. Duke (5) and Dash (3) get along 95% of the time but that other 5% has landed both of them in the vets office on multiple occasions for stitches. Our Pit lab mix Dash was extremely dog aggressive with any dog other than his housemate Duke and in some instances even Duke wasn’t safe. We had tried other trainers, videos, alternative methods and nothing worked. We were at our wits end and were considering rehoming Dash because we didn’t know what else to do. We heard about Akin and ABC Training Kennels through a friend at work and thought we had to try one last time before breaking up our family because it was the last thing we wanted to do. Akin was patient, informative and beyond helpful. Like he always says, he’s an envelope pusher. And he pushed us just as much as he pushed our dogs and it was all for the better. Since our first session with Akin almost 6 months ago, we have not had any aggression issues at home. We were terrified to leave the house with Dash before we started training but now we can go on walks, take him to stores and everything. Training never stops and you have to be consistently consistent but Akin has given us the tools to ensure that we can keep our boys together and feel safe and confident with them at home and out in public. We couldn’t have done it without him.
